“I wanted to write to you to say a huge THANK YOU to you and all of the team at AcuMedic.

My partner and I had been trying for a baby for about 2.5 years, to no avail. Every month disappointed and slowly getting more despondent. Will it ever happen..?

In September 2017, I was 40 years old, with just over 3 months left until my 41st birthday. Both my partner and I had been for tests to check if there were any problems. The tests revealed no issues.

I knew that I had to do something if I wanted to have a baby before I was 42. I was thinking for ages about how we would be able to afford IVF, since I had missed the NHS boat on that. Would we be able to save enough to try even one round of treatment? I wasn’t starting to panic, but I was starting to get very concerned, and not knowing what the problem was made it more difficult to figure out what we could do.

I had read up a lot about acupuncture being a good treatment for infertility. I spoke with a colleague of mine, who is Chinese, and asked if she could recommend any fertility acupuncture specialists. She mentioned Dr. Lily at AcuMedic.

I came to see you in September. Dr Jiao asked me loads of questions about my health and lifestyle, and then straight away gave me a treatment of acupuncture specially for infertility. I had a long and very interesting conversation with you about the same, and about Chinese medicine and how it works holistically to treat all sorts of issues.

We made the decision together that, in conjunction with regular acupuncture, we would try a 3-month course of Chinese herbal medicine too. This would help to align my Xi and system, help with blood flow etc.

You said specifically that I should not expect miracles, as age was not on my side, and that we had been trying for almost 2.5yrs. But, we would try anyway.

I went home and made the tea every evening (honestly, I have tasted better drinks in my life ) and took the capsules every morning. I came back 3 weeks later for another round of acupuncture.

A week later, I was absolutely astonished to discover that I was pregnant! By my dates, I calculated that we conceived exactly one week after my first round of acupuncture! I couldn’t believe it. I cried and cried and laughed. I just couldn’t believe it, I had to do multiple pregnancy tests. All positive  

I called you straight away to give you the remarkable news. You were so lovely and supportive and gave me excellent advice on taking it easy for the next 3 months. Those months were nerve-racking, but I am pleased to say that our first scan was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Our baby is doing so well and is fit and very active. I continued with the acupuncture and the capsules (my morning sickness did not allow me to continue with the tea..) to ensure my blood was doing fine and all the good things were going to baby.

I am now 16 weeks pregnant, with baby due end of June. I feel great. My doctor is happy with me and my health, and my partner and I could not be more delighted.

I want to say to you and all the team at AcuMedic: Thank you thank you thank you. I will certainly come and see you once our little wonder is born.

I hope that this letter gives hope to some that come to see you. I cannot express how thankful we are. Thank you again.
