The AcuMedic therapist will have a brief consultation with you to understand your health needs and learn a bit about your lifestyle. Swedish Massage is performed as you are lying on the bed. In order to maximise the effects of your Swedish Massage it is advised that you remove your clothing and lie down in your underwear under the sheet provided.
The therapist will use a variety of techniques, including effleurage (long strokes), friction (circular pressured movements with the palms of hands, thumbs and/or fingers), petrissage (kneading movements with hands, thumbs and/or fingers), percussion (brisk hacking or tapping), vibration (oscillatory movements that shake or vibrate the limbs), bending, stretching, and shaking of your limbs to de-stress your body and gently bring it into a state of blissful, restorative relaxation.
The therapist will be using their chosen techniques to achieve the effects necessary in your individual case, however, you should always let them know which movements or areas you enjoy the most and that is where they will concentrate. The movements can be gentle and slow, or deep and vigorous. It is up to you.
