Personal Statement
“My neighbour was a TCM doctor who worked at the local clinic where he helped many people with his acupuncture skills.
Patients suffering from pain, digestive problems, skin troubles, emotional issues, dealing with cancer – even people who gave up on Western medicine – he helped them all.
When the time came for me to decide what I wanted to study for my university degree, I decided that I wanted to help people with Traditional Chinese Medicine, just like my great neighbour doctor did.” – Dr Zhang
Qualifications
Dr Zhang graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2003 after completing the 5-year course at the Inner Mongolia Medical University in the city of Hohhot, China.
Experience
Dr Zhang has been working as a TCM doctor for 22 years now.
Even before his graduation, Dr Zhang was absorbing practical knowledge of how to help patients. During the first summer break of his university studies, he used the free time to observe doctors at the university hospital and study how they worked with their patients.
Immediately after graduating in 2003, he was appointed to work as Chinese Medicine doctor at the China-Mongolia Hospital where, until December 2007, he applied his skills as an acupuncturist, Chinese herbalist and remedial massage therapist to treat a wide range of conditions.
In January 2008 Dr Zhang started his work in London, and he has been helping patients in the capital ever since.
Teaching Work
In 2002, Dr Zhang used his knowledge of Tui Na therapy (remedial acupressure massage) to train blind masseurs and help them develop their palpation techniques at a course in Hohhot.
In China, the Tui Na massage profession is an established route for the blind and visually impaired people into skilled employment, and TCM specialists are hired to provide training at these vocational courses organised by the central government.
Clinical Specialities
Dr Zhang has accumulated many years’ of experience in treating joint and muscle pains, and can combine acupuncture, Tui Na and Chinese herbal medicine to create personalised solutions for neck, shoulders, lower back pains, stroke sequelae and paralysis.
He has practical knowledge of how to use acupuncture and Chinese herbs to help both men and women overcome fertility issues.
His TCM training and experience has also equipped him to treat various digestion problems.
Dr Zhang can combine acupuncture therapy and Chinese herbs to provide natural treatment for emotional healing, including stress, anxiety and depression.
Experience of Working in the UK
Dr Zhang has been helping Londoners with acupuncture and Chinese Medicine since 2008:
“In my experience, the most common causes of health problems in London is stress and the weather.
Stress from work, from family, from relationships is affecting many people. And there is just not enough sunshine.
The cold, windy and damp weather is causing physical pains, but they can be treated with acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.
As for the stress, a doctor can’t prevent it, but I can help my patients to reduce the harmful effects of stress on their bodies, and I can help them to strengthen their bodies against the triggers of stress.”
More About Dr Zhang
“I make the Chinese Medicine consultation easy for my patients because I am an easygoing person who can communicate in simple words.
I understand that some patients find it difficult to answer all the questions about their health or talk about their condition or to express themselves to their doctor, so I lead the consultation with simple questions. I also make it comfortable for the patient to ask me questions, and I answer them clearly.
This way, my consultations are balanced and simple.”
