Thai massage at AcuMedic in London is a powerful and restorative ancient massage system from Thailand’s indigenous medicine.
Thai massage is a wonderful anti-stress and tension relieving therapy that involves gentle stretching manipulations and the application of pressure from the hands and feet usually performed on a floor mat.
How our Thai Massage can help you
Thai massage can be used as part of a treatment programme for a variety of physical and emotional health conditions, including Back Pain; Sciatica and Anxiety. Thai massage can be effective at correcting bad posture that is at the root of various muscular aches, pains and stiffness. Thai massage can help to relax and release muscular tension, the body’s flexibility and power can be optimised.
Thai massage can gently and naturally stimulate the lymphatic system and improve blood circulation which is fundamental to smooth and agile movement of the body, and, a focused mind.
+ How it works
When it comes to understanding how Thai massage works the Chinese Medical theory is a great place to start because Thai massage uses similar ideas of the importance of energy flow and circulation for health.
Thai massage uses the stretches and pressure points primarily to improve blood and energetic flow in order to relieve any tightness and tension. The therapeutic value of Thai therapy lies in its ability to restore the circulation of energy in a natural and non-invasive manner, using only the enjoyable sensation of stretching and gentle massage movements.

+ What to expect
The AcuMedic therapist will give you a brief consultation before asking you to lie on a floor mat. We advise all patients to bring loose fitting clothes as the massage is usually performed clothed but sheets can be used too.
+ Treatment
Thai massage is performed on a floor mat, with the therapist combining rhythmic acupressure, body rocking and deep assisted stretches with hatha yoga moves to help release muscular tension and blocked energy (Qi).
Remarkably, the therapist might be using their knees, elbows, forearms, palms, feet and thumbs and yet still making the most gentle moves to aid deep relaxation. Whilst the Thai massage therapist is using Yoga moves, you do not require any experience of yoga and you will be relaxed throughout the treatment.
+ After the treatment
After the Thai Massage you should feel relaxed and restored with an alleviation of tension and stiffness. Often patients will find an improvement in their sleep and general health after Thai massage.
